A 1996 amendment to the Safe Drinking Water Act (SDWA) requires public water suppliers to provide consumer confidence reports (CCR) to their customers.

The CCR also called the Water Quality Report summarizes information regarding sources used, any detected contaminants, compliance and education information. The report for the prior year is sent to customers by July of each year.
