The City of Chippewa Falls is accepting applications for a full-time Mechanic with the Street Department. This position repairs and overhauls city vehicles, including diesel machinery; repairs and reconditions pumps, transmissions, differentials, distributors, hydraulics and electrical systems; operates a variety of machines and equipment used in automotive repair and maintenance work; does body and fender work; cuts and welds metal by electric, acetylene and wire feed methods. Knowledge of tools, equipment, occupational hazards and safe work practices used in the automotive and mechanical trades required. Ability to diagnose mechanical failures and defects needed.
Qualifications: High School diploma required and 4 to 5 years related experience with diesel engines and other work related to the trade is preferred. Applicant should hold a CDL. Wage for this position is $27.07/hr. Work hours include every 2nd and 4th Saturday from April 2nd to November 2nd at the Yard Waste site.
